BIGBANK secures its presence in Spain, appointing Gala Montes as Head of Branch

After a year with the company as Sales Director of the national office, Gala Montes will take on the challenge of increasing the group’s business volume.
This appointment reflects the growing commitment of the entity for the Spanish market, where BIGBANK doubled its business portfolio in the last financial year.

Madrid, 20 August 2013.-, Today BIGBANK, the international bank specialising in consumer credit operating in 9 countries, has announced the appointment of Gala Montes Redón as the new Head of Spanish Branch. Gala Montes, who has been with the company for a year as Sales Director of the national office, in her new position in replacement of Juris Püce will take on the challenge of increasing the business volume and its share of the personal loans market in Spain, where the bank has been operating since 2011.
The appointment will take effect from 1 August and shows BIGBANK’s growing commitment for Spain at the same time that delegate the management of its European branches to local specialists, familiar with the local loan market, as well as its clients and partner management in accordance with the country’s culture.
The BIGBANK business has experienced a significant growth during the first semester of 2013. The bank increased its loan portfolio in Spain, growing 11% compared to the same period of the previous year. Madrid is the Autonomous Region that has had the greatest increase in credit granted, with 21% of the total, followed by Catalonia (20%) and Andalusia (12%). In the 2012 financial year it also doubled its credit portfolio in Spain to 14 million Euro.
Gala Montes Redón has a long track record in the loan sector in Spain. She has more than 10 years’ experience in Financial Institutions like Celeris or Cetelem in which she held positions of responsibility. With a degree in Economics from the University of Cantabria, she also has a Masters from the IEB (Specialist in private Banking and Financial Advice).
